In Newport News, Virginia, many students rely on school lunches as their primary source of nutrition. When schools close for breaks, these students often face food insecurity. SOLO Harvest of Kindness is a community-driven initiative designed to provide essential food resources to families in need during these times.
SOLO Harvest of Kindness is committed to providing a safe and dignified experience for all families. Our volunteers work diligently to ensure that food packages are distributed efficiently and with compassion. We believe that every child deserves to have access to nutritious food, regardless of their circumstances.
Through the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, SOLO Harvest of Kindness is making a positive impact on the lives of students and their families in Newport News. By supporting our initiative, you can help ensure that no child goes hungry during school breaks.
SOLO Ministries and Newport News Public Schools' Family and Community Engagement invite all families to join us for "Sharing the Table, Sharing the Love" Fridays! Every Friday, at Parent Drop Off and Parent Pick Up, you can pick up fresh baked goods, including bagels, breads, muffins, and pastries, at designated school sites. This weekly distribution is made possible through a partnership with Panera Bread at Jefferson Commons, ensuring that no family goes hungry. Please arrive on time and be mindful of the first-come, first-served basis. Let's come together to share a meal and spread love within our community.Â
