who is solo ministries?

Contrary to our name, SOLO Ministries is not a religious organization. We are a community-based organization founded in 2016 with a mission to support and empower families in the Newport News, VA area. Initially serving the entire city, we have since shifted our focus to the Uptown/Denbigh neighborhood to concentrate our resources and impact.

Inspired by the Save One Love One model, SOLO Ministries was founded by Shameek Baker with the goal of creating a positive and supportive environment for families in need. Through our various initiatives, we strive to provide essential services and opportunities for growth.

Our Initiatives

Over the years, we have implemented several impactful initiatives to address the needs of families in our community:

• The Birthday EXperience: This initiative provided monthly birthday parties for children who may not have the financial means to celebrate their special day. By offering festive celebrations, we created lasting memories and fostered a sense of joy.

• The Harvest EXperience: Recognizing the importance of food security, we distributed breads and pastries to families through this initiative. By providing nutritious meals, we helped alleviate hunger and ensure that basic needs were met.
